The Discovery
Act One: The Discovery in Gastric Juice
In the early 1990s, Croatian researcher Predrag Sikiric made an important discovery.
In the early 1990s, Croatian researcher Predrag Sikiric made an important discovery. He was studying stomach acid and digestive fluids. Inside human gastric juice, he found a special protein called stable gastric pentadecapeptide. The amino acid sequence was Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val. This wasn't random. The peptide showed remarkable stability even at room temperature. Sikiric realized this natural compound might have special healing powers. His team began testing it in animal models.
